Question 1. What attracted you to being interested in joining the board?
A decade or so ago, I had served briefly as my NDA’s rep to ICDA, which introduced me to the organization. Â I met the person who is now ICDA Board Chair, Dr. Giuseppe Russolillo, at the Portuguese Nutrition Association conference in Lisbon several years later. Â So, when I was invited in 2022 to put my name forward for consideration for the Board, I didn’t hesitate a second.
Question 2. What do you hope to achieve in your time on the board?
I want to use whatever skills I may have to help the Board follow its strategic plan, to offer value to ICDA’s member NDAs, and foster a spirit of global cooperation in nutrition and dietetics.
Question 3. What inspired you to be a dietitian and where you are today?
My older sister is also a dietitian, and so her being in our profession made me aware of dietetics & nutrition as a career option. Â She took a different career path, serving as a university professor for over 30 years, whereas my specialty is nutrition informatics, which is the intersection of technology, nutrition, and information. Â I have served in several leadership roles in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (USA), most recently on its Nominating Committee, which I chaired in 2023-24.
