Question 1. What attracted you to being interested in joining the board?

I have been CEO of the Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Institute for a decade now and I have learned so much from dietitians. I admire energy with which they approach their work and the dedication they show to their profession and their patients. There has been so much change in the profession in Ireland over the last 10 years, dietetics became a regulated profession, and the title has been protected but there are still challenges to be faced in terms of defining competencies and enhancing the reputation of qualified nutrition professionals.

Question 2. What do you hope to achieve in your time on the board?

Ireland is a small country, and we have benefited from the support of other NDAs and being a part of the ICDA.  10 years ago, we took the decision to transition from a volunteer run organization to a professional management structure, I want to share what has worked for us and learn from others. The ICDA is all about supporting individual NDAs to achieve their potential and be as effective as they can be in the environment in which they operate. I look forward to contributing.
