Six months prior to each Members' Meeting at which directors are to be elected, the Board of Directors invites Members to submit nominations for positions on the Board of Directors. The Secretary advises on Board positions that are to be filled by elections and provides the eligibility criteria. Voting takes place at the Members' Meeting. Results are reported at the Members' Meeting. Those declared elected take office at the end of the meeting.
The Chair of the Board of Directors is one of the two officers of the organization. At a meeting immediately following the election of Directors, the Directors appoints the Chair of the Board of Directors from amongst the Directors. The term of office for the Chair is two years, and the Chair may be reappointed for a total of four terms.
The Secretary is one of the two officers of ICDA and is the official Representative of the Member association that is serving as the Secretariat. The term of office is two years and the Secretary may be reappointed for a total of 8 terms.
